Riding Lessons

Classes are split into different levels of abilities to ensure that appropriate attention is given to enable the rider tro gain confidence and learn required skills.  Please see below for our key stages:-

LEVEL ONE - BEGINNER

Riders will be taught (with assistance) on a lead rein how to sit correctly on the horse/pony, how to hold the reins, basic steering, control of the horse in walk and trot,
understanding the basic safety rules, learning layout and letters within the
school.

LEVEL TWO - INTERMEDIATE BEGINNER

Furthering the skills outlined above, riders will be taught with little or no assistance how to control and steer the horse, without stirrups to strengthen legs and rising and
sitting trots. When these skills have been mastered, riders will be taught diagonals, position and posture, various school movements including a figure of 8, 20 metre circles and preparation for cantering.

LEVEL THREE - INTERMEDIATE

Within this skill level, riders will be taught to control the horse in walk, trot and canter with no assistance. Safe and secure positioning in all paces, further work on canter leads. Basic preparation for progression to jumping.

LEVEL FOUR - ADVANCED

All skill sets already achieved will be practiced on and improved with an emphasis on gaining better knowledge in the area of safety on the horse, yourself and others around you. Advancement of flat work to improve both horse and rider. Jumping small
fences and progressing to small course.  Tacking and un-tacking horses.

Please note that these are only guidelines, as obviously much more will be learnt at each level.
